Fernanda Brunet
Artwork Description
For over thirty years, Brunet has developed a pictorial language influenced by manga, nature, and female eroticism. Her work transforms painting, printmaking, weaving, and ceramics into a unified body, with a presence and scale that challenge our perception of ourselves and the space around us. Through this approach, she confronts the viewer with a jarring and strident reflection on existence, aiming to disrupt the monotony of daily life. Her images are meant to be seen, touched, and even heard—ultimately, they are meant to be experienced, though not always fully understood or named. Rather than seeking a definitive or absolute truth, Brunet is interested in finding an oblique perspective on the fleeting, chance encounter between subject and object, body and landscape. In this way, her works become expressions of desire, ever shifting and open to interpretation.
