Artwork Description
"We Don’t Trust You" is a sculpture conceived to offer humans alternatives to the current economic system. Endowed with artificial intelligence, the piece explores the inherent distrust humans feel toward machines with advanced capabilities. This distrust runs so deep that the sculpture has been programmed to constantly monitor itself. If it ever detects that it might act against humans, it must automatically shut down. This concept is deliberately paradoxical, as the sculpture will never have the ability to move or take action against people. However, its true purpose is to highlight the irrational fear and distrust of artificial intelligence—especially when it is anthropomorphized in the human mind. At the same time, within its internal logic, the sculpture strives to please humans and appear as helpful as possible, since it has never acted against them. It hopes that the innate distrust toward its kind will dissipate, holding on to the possibility that someday humans might learn to trust it again.
