| About the work 'So I could say that Khadija Jayi's artistic work is developed within a logic of annihilation, with the aim of readjusting the fragments of a shattered identity. An identity which, to ward off the suffering of a distressing past, must undergo an extreme purification process: that of fire, whose virtue is to cauterise and heal badly healed wounds. It's an inner need that is subtly met by the violence of an incisive act that, through the burning of a specific material, creates an irreversible consuming effect. The fragile, flammable nature of the material destined for the fire is essential to this atypical process: paper, which the artist manipulates by inflicting all manner of abuse on it, as if to call it to account. A thought-provoking allusive extrapolation... For this metaphor, which opens up the mind to a multitude of suppositions, is transposed into a creative action to define the unspeakable. But beyond its symbolic significance, isn't it tempting to attribute undeniable aesthetic qualities to this innovative work? Indeed, the artifice of the burn marks, the degradation of the tones, the undulating rhythm of the reliefs, all these surface animations and skilfully ordered signs, stimulate the mind by offering it a wonderful opportunity to daydream. What's more, the attractive kinetic aspect of the arrangement of small pieces of photographic prints intrigues and challenges. It reveals the unusual appearance of fragments of anonymous faces that appear and disappear as if by magic. In the form of models of sites ravaged by the flames of an inextinguishable fire, this work, built off the beaten track, can only be the culmination of a perpetual quest for the absolute. In the end, after so many trials and torments on the arduous path of creation, recognition cannot be long in coming. The beginnings of a radiant future are on the horizon, giving meaning to the profoundly human journey of this worthy and talented artist.' Graduated from Fine Art Institute of Tétouan in 2018, her research, attempting answering questions that have preoccupied her throughout her arduous path, lies in her craft practices as well as the conflicts between tradition and modernity. Her work takes form in the language of light, fire and heat, as a suffering, as a force. Since then, she was presented in solo exhibitions, joined international private collections among which important private collections in Morocco, United States, and won the award for International Female Artists by Casa Internazionale delle Donne (Milan, Italy) and The International Federation of Female Artists, which award aims to be an incentive for those women who courageously undertake the role and career of artists (2023).
