Atsuki Fujimoto 藤本純輝
Artwork Description
Atsuki Fujimoto is an artist who captures nature's ephemeral beauty and strength through his unique perspective and innovative techniques. Born in 1997 in Mie Prefecture, Japan, and having specialised in oil painting at the Kyoto University of the Arts, Fujimoto explores new possibilities in artistic expression by bringing fresh approaches to the traditional canvas medium. While his works are inspired by natural motifs such as flowers and plants, they go far beyond the boundaries of conventional still-life painting. By tearing, layering, and reassembling the canvas, Fujimoto employs distinctive techniques that emphasise the dimensionality of his motifs and evoke the atmospheric essence of the scenes he portrays. These methods awaken a tactile sensibility in viewers, offering an immersive experience that feels like one has stepped into nature. In this sense, Fujimoto’s work reflects the influence of Western material art while incorporating a delicate sensitivity and serene "Japanese quietness." His creations seamlessly integrate the aesthetic values of contemporary Japan. Through his unique process of cutting and manipulating fabric and canvas, Fujimoto crafts new forms of expression that convey his profound respect for nature. His works embody a fragile vitality, the subtle presence of changing seasons, and an elegant sense of time that offers viewers solace and inspiration. Together, these elements make Fujimoto’s art indeed one of a kind.
