Artwork Description

"National Anthem" questions traditional conceptions of nationality and borders, portraying a middle-aged individual who grew up in an era marked by the promises of globalization and neoliberalism, and now navigates a world where nationalism resurfaces as a force seemingly in opposition to globalization. The work points towards what the artist sees as an ideology meant to divert attention from deeper systemic issues. While the resurgence of nationalism raises questions about identity and belonging, the piece also inquires what place nationalism holds in a world that has created a "new alien species": artificial intelligence.
