About

OMR is a contemporary art gallery in Mexico City, founded by Patricia Ortiz Monasterio and Jaime Riestra in 1983. Over the past four decades, the gallery has fostered and developed the careers of numerous emerging and established artists throughout Latin America and globally; OMR has established itself as a pioneering Mexican contemporary art space, presenting over 400 exhibitions across all media and genres, and participating in art fairs around the world.

In 2015, after 30 years in a turn-of-the-century Porfirian villa at Plaza Río de Janeiro in Roma Norte, OMR moved to a remodelled brutalist building from the 1970s on Córdoba 100 a few blocks away – the former premises of the record and book store Sala Margolín.

In 2022, OMR co-founded the cultural center LagoAlgo. Housed in a historic modernist building in the Bosque de Chapultepec (Mexico City’s green lung), LagoAlgo fosters encounters between contemporary art, gastronomy, and architecture, creating a free and public cultural destination in Mexico City.

2023 marked the 40th anniversary of OMR: 40 years of changes, 40 years of exhibitions, 40 years of friends and supporters, and 40 years of artists being at the core of what we do.
